~About Elinor Coleman~

Elinor Coleman, the owner of Elinor Coleman's Vintage Mirage, and co-founder of the Alexandria and Arlington 'Reuse Resource Guide,' moved to Alexandria in the fall of 2003.  For the 23 years prior, Elinor lived and worked in Soho, New York City- the center of the downtown fashion scene and the vintage clothing mecca.

As Artistic Director of the Elinor Coleman Dance Ensemble/Danse Mirage, Inc., a professional modern dance company, Elinor created choreography, designed costumes and stage sets for her concert stage productions and community and educational residencies performed throughout the US, Canada, Japan and Europe.

Elinor's goal when she moved to Alexandria was to direct her knowledge of fashion and style toward the goal of opening a unique store to fill an unmet need in the Washington, D.C. area for unique vintage items, as well as personalized advice on how to dress and maintain vintage designer clothing, jewelry and accessories.

The goal at Vintage Mirage is to find good homes for the items offered for sale.  Elinor hopes to impart a sense of history and respect for the craftsmanship evident in the making of these items.

Elinor Coleman is a member of the Alexandria and Arlington Reuse and Recycle Committee, National Button Society, Victorian Society of Falls Church, The Costume Society of America, National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops, National Dance Education Organization, Capitol Region Educators Dance Organization, Metro Dance DC, and serves on the Advisory Board of Dance Place, Washington, D.C.  Vintage Mirage is a business member of the Alexandria Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Old Town Business and Professional Association.
